GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This is a freshwater boat sold new by Crates on Lake Simcoe then
resold to current owner in 1999. The boat has 1800 hours of travelling
Georgian Bay, the Trent Severn and through the Rideau waterway.
It is equipped with win 454 Crusaders, air/heat, genny, windlass,
Freedon Lift hydraulic tender system, DL11 Caribe hard bottom
tender with 40 h.p. Yamaha and trailer (stored in the owners home
garage in the off season since new) and lots more equipment. This
was the only year that the 7.4 Crusader engines were available
in this model. Prior years were equipped with 427 Mercruiser engines.
As with the 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988 models of this popular 381
Catalina model this boat would be a terrific boat for a larger
family ... or as a wonderful spacious live-aboard. Unlike all
of the other Catalinas this boat was featured, filmed and aired
on "The Power Boat Television Show" at the Orillia in-water
boat show last summer. The boat also appeared in the February
issue of
"Power Boat Magazine". The 1989 Catalina 381 was the
last year the boat was produced ... and this one is a 10+.

The
Freedom Lift hydraulic system, tender, motor and trailer costs
over $40,000.00 when new 10 years ago. To purchase and install
the Freedom Lift remote controlled hydraulic lifting system would
cost over $24,000.00 this spring ... as seen at the January "Toronto
Boat Show". You will find 1988 and 1989 Catalina 381's in
"tidy" condition priced at $60,000.00 without this system
and the tender, motor and trailer. With her generous 14' beam.
the size of the cabin areas, the storage available ... this would
be a good boat for a larger family, an owner that enjoys entertaining
onboard or an owner wanting to live aboard. Both cabins have private
heads with seperate shower stalls for the convenience of overnight
guests.
Most of the larger photos below were taken May 24th. While it
is out of the water a buyer can have the boat surveyed if they
wish. Any offer to purchase will of course be subject to a water-test
to confirm that the systems requiring water to operate are functioning.
The boat is scheduled to be professionally waxed by "Maid
To Anchor" from Penetang in the next week or 2. The boat
was professionally detailed a week before most of the photos below
were taken. The current owner is super-fussy and proud of his
boat ... and it shows.
The boat is being sold with the Freedom Lift
hydraulic system ... a buyer not needing or wanting the Freedom
system or tender, trailer and motor can sell them after they take
possession.
The couple that own the boat are retiring after 25 years of happy
boating.
