The
boat was driven down to Bobcaygeon from Midland by the owner and
a friend. It arrived here Thursday October 10th and will likely
be put onshore sometime next week.
This boat has spent most of its life on Georgian Bay. It has been
on the St. Lawrence and up the Rideau ... but never in salt water.
The owners have purchased a motorhome to travel throughout North
America. This boat was renovated in 2014. This included both roofs
being replaced, the floor replaced, the windows and doors replaced,
the 5.7 Mercruiser engines and stern drives were installed and
the hull was sanded and 3 coats of epoxy were applied. A 4th cost
of epoxy was applied in the spring of 2024. The galley was upgraded,
2 new fuel tanks, a new 60 gallon black water tank and 2 new fuel
tanks plus all the necessary plumbing were installed. The boat
was completely re-wired and the new helm was installed. The boat
had an extensive survey done in 2019 and it was upgraded in the
fall of 2024. New lithium batteries and the solar panel system
were installed recently as was the 3,000 watt inverter. This boat
can be away from shore for extended periods without running out
of power. Good solar panels still absord light on cloudy days
and the batteries stay charged.
This boat is more stable than a houseboat on pontoons. The hull
deflects the waves to the side unlike pontooned houseboats. Few
if any houseboats for sale in Ontario have had the extensive upgrades
that this boat has had. The seller has paid for the winterizing
and winter storage. A serious buyer will view and purchase this
boat in the spring. It is unlikely you will find a similar boat
with these extensive upgrades here in Ontario. The twin stern
drives make this houseboat far more manouverable than typical
houseboats.
The last few photos of the boat onshore were taken the 1st week
of November. Notice the boat has a keel that aids in control.
All winter costs and the spring launching fee has been paid. There
are 2 videos of the boat running fine when it arrived in Bobcaygeon
and at the marina.
They can be viewed at the boat.
